Day Trip to Mount Nittany Wine Trail

Mount Nittany Vineyard & Winery

The first stop on our tour will be Mount Nittany Vineyard & Winery. An authentic family farm winery, Mt. Nittany crafts exceptional local wine from their mountainside location in the heart of central Pennsylvania.

Mt. Nittany produces 12-13,000 gallons of wine each year and harvests anywhere from 12-15 tons of grapes annually. The six varieties of grapes grown in their vineyard include Cayuga, Seyval Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Vidal Blanc, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Award winning wines are made at the vineyard to suit every taste, including fruit wines out of locally sourced cherries, apples, blueberries, and raspberries. At the winery, be prepared to enjoy a fun and informative wine-tasting experience while enjoying the ambiance of our beautiful setting. Included in the wine tasting will be five or six wines plus a souvenir glass to take home!

Nittany Lion Inn

After the wine tasting, we’ll visit the Nittany Lion Inn in State College to satisfy your cravings with a lunch buffet. The Dining Room at the Nittany Lion Inn features signature American dishes. Look forward to an extravagant lunch, including two hot entrees, a hot starch, vegetable dish, soup, three types of salad du jour, cold cuts, cheese platter, and a fruit tray. The buffet also includes a delectable dessert and bottomless beverages for you to enjoy!

Happy Valley Vineyard & Winery

Following lunch, we’ll visit the Happy Valley Vineyard & Winery in State College, PA. Happy Valley strives to provide quality wines by starting with sustainable agricultural practices in the vineyard as well as using energy efficient products to make their wine.

In the vineyard, they grow 13 different types of premium grapes that create wines with a distinctive variety of character. You can find anything from dry, fruity whites to oaky, full-bodied reds, and of course their award-winning Ice Wine. With a list of over thirty wines, there’s something that will please every palate. As a part of the trip, you’ll have an introduction plus tasting, including six of Happy Valley’s wine samples.

Tait Farm Harvest Shop

On the next stop of our wine tour, we’ll be visiting Tait Farm Foods. Just minutes from State College, Tait Farm is a diversified family farm in central Pennsylvania. Within the farm is the famous Tait Farm Harvest Shop, which showcases Tait Farm Specialty Foods and local food products.
